2010 CLUB NEWS & UPDATES

12/17/10

Now we have gone and done it. Club this year chose to have a Christmas Party and what a time we had. The fellowship and camaraderie was what we needed after such a wonderful year. This is what we do and we're gonna do it again...see ya next year!

Parades

Now instead of going to each individual parade, we'll just confine them for ease of all. Our Club took part in 3 different parades in two weeks this year. Marianna, Alford and Cottondale. I think that's the slowest we rode all year. The most gratifying one I believe was Cottondale's, for it was the end of our Christmas Toy collection for the Guardian Ad Litem. It was our Club's privilege to help almost 90 kids have a better Christmas. Who says Santa Claus is dead?

11/10

Doing something with or for the Veterans is always a pleasure! We got invited this year to help with the Memorial first and then the Parade. This was a great parade too - short and sweet. HA HA. Those that came out to aid the Vets also had a wonderful meal afterwards at the hot spot in town ... Waffle House! Next year let's do it again!!!

10/23/10

Well this was our second year of this event and it came out wonderful. Many of last years friends and families came out to enjoy this year's festivities. At least this year we didn't burn any cookers up. More food, more fun and Mother nature sure helped this year also. We were also glad to have Gambler back from his "destiny with a deer" accident. Glad to have you back brother! We also had a special guest to help hand out trophies, thanks a bunch Heather, look forward to future outings with you. This year's fundraising was to help sponsor a prospection fire fighter thru school. Good job guys!

10/11/10

Some days just when ya think everything is going so well, Murphy’s Law just up and bites ya right square in the “ahem!” This was our church night and all went smooth during the meeting. Even got thru in less than a hour. Kudos to me! But, after was all said and done, tragedy hit us close to home. Our newest patched member and his wife was leaving the meeting and hit a deer! My phone rang and our brother, Gambler, was on his back and called me and said we've been in an accident. We're hurt bad! Po Folks never knew what flew out the door as we emptied and got on scene quick fast and in a hurry. As we cleared all, after flying his wife and ground transporting him to Tallahassee, the FHP complemented us on a job well done. As an update to the accident, Marilyn is home and Ken is following shortly. All I can say is that nothing but, by the grace of God, this may have been worse. Be well my friends! You're in our thoughts as the healing process takes place and can’t wait to have ya back on the road with us!

10/4/10

I guess all good things must eventually come to an end. As such is the case with our sister in arms, Vanessa Meadows. Nessa lost her life after a short fight with cancer. Unfortunately she had never been diagnosed or treated for such so the end came quickly. Her short time in our club brought many smiles and hard laughter which we will miss so very dearly. We know that she is attending that great poker run someplace for her heart was in the club and she so very muchly enjoyed riding. We know you're smiling down on us as we continue to do our task with as much diligence as we can muster. R.I.P. our sister. Godspeed Nessa!!

10/2/10

Of all the dagblasted days or weekends to have to pull a 48, our club was out to help again! Seems the RK's needed help once again to pull off the poker run at Thunder Beach. It's always a pleasure when we're able to help even on short notice for such a worthy event! The National Fallen Firefighter Fund is something that helps all of us in those terrible and trying times when the unthinkable happens. This year they had 135 bikes for the event, now that is a solid turn out! My thanks to all the team members that participated and showing what being a member is all about! My hat’s off to you guys! Oh yeah! Thanks to the RK's for inviting us!

9/22/10

After a few meetings and under the weather because of the heat, we had been planning a bike night for the club because we needed to do something for ourselves. We had an enjoyable
night at Sonic's and had a "blast"! Caught some without their coins...that is so evil to call a challenge! Never know unless
you try!

9/5/10

It started out as a cool morning ride but that didn't take long to change! lol! Once we got closer to the beach the heat started up and so did the humidity. Toucan's was the destination as we had a great ride with club members and friends from Tally! And, just so you know, yes he really did drop the bike. Look forward to the next outing!

8/21/10 Well lordy gee golly whiz! Our fearless leader has come to stay and visit our wonderful beaches in the area. It seems the family had a wonderful stay while here. On Sat. we had everyone from Station 8, Station 55, Station 36 and Station 202 in attendance for this prestigious honor. It seemed more like the kickoff for the upcoming Rally in 2011. Had the events planned out, host motel and meet and greet finalized. Things are falling into place. Looks like 2011 gonna be a great year!
7/24/10 Hey all you fire and iron peeps! The ride south to PC like usual had it's problems! A fellow bike rider (ok...it was a girl) had carb issues and had to ride bitch for most of the day! After shuffling around we had everything under control! We couldn't have asked for a better riding day! Sunshine hidden by clouds with just a bit of moisture that hardly hit the ground! We're not sure how many riders were in attendance for the poker run but there were bikes everywhere! The chance to spend a bit of time with the Great American Dream! Thanks to all for a great ride! Let's do it again!
7/4/10 It was a day for fun in the sun. Didn't ride many miles other than what it took to get to where we were going, but it was all about the destination today. Club members and family had a BBQ and fun in the afternoon. Horseshoes was the choice of entertainment for the adults while some of the children swam and fished. As the sun went down after all the apple pie was gone, the fireworks came out. Hope all had a great time. This one's for you guys, you're the greatest! I couldn't do what I do without you. Hope ya not too upset at Dispatch for making the melon to strong! HA HA!
6/9-13/10

__The Rally for 2010 was in Plymouth, Mass. Station 144 and Scooter did a superb job of hosting. Hotels right on the water front and barring slight drizzle even Mother Nature allowed for a great event.
__How Brave does one individual have to be to actually call for a coin challenge at the Meet & Greet? Or is that just crazy? The Crazy part is, I think, someone was without a coin! Helluva bar tab there! Took up a collection to help though. Now that's togetherness. One for all and all for one! Brotherhood.
__Great rides, nice country, awesome people! What more could a club need? More beer please! Or apple pie! BOTH!!
__With only one incident during a ride, an accident nearly slowed us for a bit but no significant injuries to mention. Crazy was more worried about the new paint job than the bruise on her leg! You go girl!!
__The Kilts & Colors ride and the booze cruise went off without a hitch. Can't wait till it happens again!
__As all headed out to the BBQ (steak & lobster) Bake, we knew it was drawing close to the end. Thanks to all who attended to made this a great rally and new friends. Fire and Iron for Life!

6/5/10 Our first Open House! Games, food, beer & fun! Bummer the bikini girls never showed up. So after all some of the officers got out there and made an effort of it. Thanks to all our friends that did come and have some really good fellowship. Special thanks goes to Dennis for his long drive from N. Carolina. Next time will have bikinis. But thanks to those that were wearing them, looked so much better than the guys! Thanks all!
5/21-22/10 We sponsored and participated in the Relay for Life for Jackson County. Despite the heat, we had a great time. We had a campsite set up and sold BBQ sandwiches and a few T-shirts. We even had a few members out walking laps! Although we didn't stay overnight, a bunch of us showed up the next morning and had a ride to Bainbridge.
5/8/10 Well this was a ride to enjoy! The whole purpose of this was just for us! A time to be on the road for no other purpose but to enjoy the open air, feel the breeze between ya knees, and be with family. Rode to Eufala and had a great lunch, met some good people on the trip and nice relaxing ride that lasted 6 hours.
5/1/10 It was never a doubt that we wouldn't help. The opportunity to assist in a Poker Run to support the National Fallen Firefighter's Foundation was an honor and a privilege. This year at Thunder Beach in co-op with the Red Knights asked if we would participate for this worthy cause. Over 100 bikes came out and rode in some really great weather for this great cause.
5/1/10 After our Sherpa goes to Helen Back event, with Thunder Beach around the corner, a Sherpa goes to Thunder Beach Poker Run was planned. Several stations participated in this event from all over the states. Our Interim Regional Officer, Dice, made the ride. Club members from Tallahassee Station 8 came over. A lot of riders all showed their support for our downed friend. Making a great come back Sherpa! Keep it moving forward!
4/28/10 This year the Florida DOT, None for the Road Campaign asked Station 202 if we would participate in their event "Ride Safe State to State. Several groups including ABATE, Red Knights, Fire and Iron 202, Christian groups and many individual riders from GA, AL, and FL participated in the ride. The trip Started at the Florida state line welcome center and ended at Pier Park, Panama City, as a kick off to Thunder Beach week - escorted by law enforcement and Florida Highway Patrol on bikes. What a ride!
4/12/10 This turned out to be a meeting to be remembered! We had several special guests and friends, points of business, and the end of a Capture the Flag! This meeting began with the arrival of 4 prospects receiving their Colors! (one was absent though) We made further prep for our Relay for Life Ride Event. Also discussed was the upcoming event for Thunder Beach with the Red Knights, Biker Bulletin Board, and Thunder Beach Productions. And the the great finale was the returned banner for the Red Knights that was mysteriously removed from a Fire and Iron event. After all was said and done and the banner returned with no disgrace it turned out to be a fun meeting. But all needs to be aware now. No telling what may happen next!!!!! Most of all, Burn rubber, not your soul!!!!
3/28/10 On a happy note, one of Fire and Iron's own is making a great comeback from definitely a trying time! Many prayers were said and answered as Sherpa is making his own way back from the dark recesses! As one of the members so politely put it, Bless his little pointy head! Thanks to all the members of 202, 55, 36,  and all others that attended. You all will be richly blessed! Mother Nature let us have a great day for playing in the sun and no chance of rain. Music, bike wash, Olympics, and such were all filled with camaraderie and laughter! Rick, wish you could've been here! A great time was had by all !
3/20/10 There are times that you just want to ride and feel the breeze between your knees! When that happens you just never know where your going to end up! It never really matters if the ride is long or short as long as it's with great people to share it with! This was such a day! Thanks for having us join you for this worthy cause!
3/13/10 Some days we really get to do some great things. Helping people that are in need is just one of them. Alisha is just one of those. She is such a sweet young lady from Malone that has had her world turned upside down and just wanted to catch her breath. Being able to see her smile and want to ride the bikes on her run was just all it was worth. We'd like to say thanks to the Thunder Angels for coming up and enjoying a perfect day for riding around the area. There are many more that participated but too many to mention! We thank you all!
2/27/10  We all had a great ride down to Panama City this weekend to meet and greet more of the MECCA peoples and enjoy their hospitality! We enjoyed them as they came to Marianna and supported our cause and it was time to return the favor. Met lots of good folks, saw some really groovy cars, and yes, even brought home a second place trophy for Motorcycle category! Didn't get to have as many as we wanted there as this was also a sad day for some. The Legacy Vets lost one of their own and we sent representatives to the memorial service in Gritney. Our condolences to the family and friends.
2/16/10 It was a sad day today as we laid to rest one of our own. Our dear sister and wife of our newest member , Donna Jo Windham was laid to rest today!  While Mother Nature made the trip a little bit unbearable and chilled you to the bones it was still nothing like what the family has to to endure. Our thoughts, prayers, and wishes to the family in this dark hour. Please remember her in your prayers.  While we only had a short time with her you could still see the sparkle in her eyes and she will be sorely missed. A short moment of silence.  Thank you all!
1/23/10 Let's hear it for all those that participated in the American Legion's HotZee Run! and if ya not sure what that is, it's playing Yahtzee instead of Poker! Give it to them for coming up with something new! Weather was on our side with no rain in the forecast but geez, they lied about the sun! Only had about 10 minutes of the glorious warmth out but it wasn't that bad over all. Made some new friends, met up with some old ones, and didn't win a blasted thing! Oh well, had a great time anyway! Look forward to the next outing!
1/10/10 What a way to start a year! Members showing up to eat, meet, and greet our newest joining Probies! We'd like to thank and welcome our newest members and wish them well as they start their journey into the Fire & Iron MC. Same old officers, some new officers, and all the old gang still around to do it all again! Stay tuned for more brand new stuff throughout the year! let's make this better than the last! Isn't that the reason we do this stuff? YEE-HAW!!!!!
1/1/10 I'm not sure how we did it but lo and behold, we're on the road again! Someone said there is no poor days for riding, only poor clothing choices. And that what it took for us to be out on the road on Jan 1st. Reps from our Station rode out to Gritney for the Annual Brotherhood Memorial Ride that was put on this year by The Viet Nam Legacy Vets. We had some great camaraderie and awesome food! Was nice to meet our brothers on two wheels and exchange friendships! Look forward to the next meeting. Stay safe in the New Year!
